Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • Fresh chicken wings with skin-on (about 2 lbs / 900g)

Seasonings & Coating

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

Honey BBQ Glaze

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup smoky BBQ sauce (use gluten-free if needed)
  • Optional: dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper for heat

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly using paper towels to ensure crispiness. Evenly season them with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to boost flavor inside and out.
  2. Bake or Grill the Wings: Arrange the wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack for baking, or place them on a grill over medium heat. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even, golden, crispy skin. If grilling, cook for 20-25 minutes until fully cooked and nicely charred.
  3. Make the Honey BBQ Glaze: While wings cook, mix honey and BBQ sauce in a bowl until combined. Adjust the balance of sweetness and smokiness to your taste. Optionally, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  4. Toss Wings in the Sauce: Once cooked, place wings in a large bowl and pour the honey BBQ glaze over them. Gently toss until each wing is evenly coated with a glossy, irresistible glaze.
  5. Serve Immediately: Serve the wings right after glazing to maintain their crispy exterior and sticky glaze. Have plenty of napkins ready for a mess-free experience.

Notes

  • Dry wings thoroughly to ensure maximum crispiness.
  • Use a wire rack while baking to allow even air circulation and crispness.
  • Flip wings halfway through cooking for consistent browning.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the honey BBQ mixture briefly before tossing.
  • Let the wings rest 3-5 minutes after glazing to lock in flavors.
