Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Base

  • Pizza Dough (store-bought or homemade)

Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef or pork
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 splash milk or 1 beaten egg (optional, for moisture)
  • Olive oil (for searing and drizzling)

Sauce and Cheese

  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Garnish (Optional)

  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: Combine ground meat with garlic, onion, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and optionally milk or beaten egg for extra moisture. Form into small bite-sized balls for even cooking. Sear in a hot skillet coated with olive oil until browned on all sides, then finish cooking in the oven until cooked through.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll pizza dough into your desired shape and thickness, aiming for uniform thickness and a slightly thicker edge for the crust.
  3. Assemble the Pizza: Spread a generous layer of marinara sauce over the dough, then evenly sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Arrange cooked meatballs evenly on top and drizzle with olive oil to help crisp everything.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
  5. Add Fresh Herbs: Once out of the oven, sprinkle chopped fresh basil or parsley over the pizza for a vibrant, fresh flavor and attractive appearance.

Notes

  • Pre-cook the meatballs to avoid undercooked centers and soggy crust.
  • Use a hot oven to ensure a crispy crust and melted cheese.
  • Don’t overload toppings to maintain balance and crispness.
  • Let the pizza rest for 5 minutes before slicing to allow the cheese to set.
  • Add fresh herbs after baking to preserve their flavor and color.
