Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly. Core each apple, removing seeds and creating a hollow center while leaving enough flesh to maintain shape. Brush the outsides with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, combine caramel candies or sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts if using. Mix well until incorporated.
  3. Stuff the Apples: Fill each cored apple with the caramel mixture, pressing gently to pack the filling. Top each apple with a small pat of butter for richness and browning.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Place apples upright in a baking dish. Pour water or apple juice into the dish bottom to maintain moisture. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes until apples are tender and caramel is bubbling.
